Job description:
The Harambee Organisation of Black Unity (HOBU) is looking to appoint a full time co-ordinator to take responsibility for the day to day activities and work to build the organisation. Based at the Marcus Garvey Centre in Birmingham the co-ordinator will take a lead role in the organisation, serving as the company secretary and as part of the Board. One of the principal roles of the co-ordinator will be to work to build the organisation membership. The intention is for this role to become permanent, which will depend on how successful the organisation becomes.
Role responsibilities:
· Administrative duties for the organisation
· Managing social media correspondence and updating the organisation’s social media pages.
· Support the work of Make it Plain
· Serve as company secretary
· Managing the schedule for the Garvey Education Centre
· Liaising with tenants of Harambee House
· Build links with other Black organisations, locally, nationally and internationally
Skills & Abilities, and Requirements
The successful applicant will:
· Be able to work with other community organisations
· Committed to the ethos of the organisation
· Be self-motivated and focused.
· Be proficient in Microsoft programs (Microsoft Word & Excel in particular).
· Be proficient in using social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook & Instagram in particular).
The successful applicant will also:
· Be a current (dues paying) member or have the intention of becoming a member of the
Harambee Organisation of Black unity.
Education
No specific level of educational qualification is required for this role. Shortlisted applicants will have a strong application in all areas of concern.
